Dear New Engineers, Here's Why It's Taking So Long to Get a Job

Remember the times your engineering profs would say "All this hardship is gonna be worth it because when you graduate, you're all sure to get jobs quickly"? I remember the time when I thought that. It was around June of last year, and I had been expecting to have been employed by then, but instead I had just gotten another rejection--after flying to Clark for the job interview, nonetheless.

So you've hurdled over the board exam, next is the real thing: Finding a job. Which you haven't been able to do yet. And it sucks because you're the last among your batchmates who is still unemployed.  Why is that? You're all engineers. In fact, you performed better academically in college than X nga, you have more professional connections than Y naman, but why did both land jobs earlier than you did?

#PreparetoPass: Tips for Standardized Test Taking

Hey again you guys! Thank you so much for the warm response on my last post. Even though it's been AGES (sorry, I'd been meaning to write more posts, but work got in the way), I hope my review on the Chemical Engineering review centers here in the Philippines was able to help a lot of you. Anyway, AFTER 9 MONTHS (this post was sitting on my drafts folder for 9 FREAKING MONTHS), I am here with a new blog post on a few strategies that will help make test taking easier.

The 1 Habit That You Should Change to Increase Your Productivity

There comes a time when you realize that it can get tiring to be mediocre. As much as we hate to admit it, this competitive world we live in lauds people with achievements.When we set goals we are excited about, we like to get started on them right away, so we plan for it. But often, we fall off the wagon just a few days in. Why??

#PreparetoPass: Where to Review for the Chemical Engineering Board Exam

In a few months, there will be another set of Chemical Engineering graduates again! (Woot! Raise your hand if you are one!) It seems like only yesterday that my classmates and I marched up on stage to receive our diplomas. Then after a summer to rest, we left home to start a shorter journey to our next big hurdle, the end game we worked >= 5 years for, to get to: the board exam.

#PreparetoPass: 3 Tips to Pass the Board Exams

Hello and welcome to the first part in my Board Exam Series called #PreparetoPass. Over the next few blog posts, I'll be tackling different aspects of the board exam, specifically the Chemical Engineering board exam (because that is the only one I took), like:
  • Choosing a review center. This will be about the different review centers and their advantages & disadvantages, and where to stay;
  • Some superstitious and religious beliefs regarding the board exams because board exams are half-effort, half God's will, or so they say;
  • Where to study for the board exam;
  • Tips when taking the actual board exam;
  • General FAQ, like should you work while taking the exam, should you answer ALL of the problems in your textbooks, should you take refresher courses, etc.
Hopefully, if you have questions for me by then, you could ask me so I can answer them. So anyway, shall we begin?

Welcome to Your Engineered Life

Hello and welcome to my new blog!

So for the first post of this blog, I wanted to share with you all how it came to be. While I was reviewing for my board exams last year, I looked for blogs that could help me out by giving me tips and other resources and I was dissatisfied by what I found. There were so few resources! I told myself that after reviewing for the boards, I would be writing posts to help future board exam takers. So while reviewing, I took note of all these tips and topics I would cover once the exam was over. But, what took me so long to write these guides was the internal debate if I should post these board exam series on my personal blog or if I should make a new one. Cause the problem was, if I made a new one focused on just board exam tips, after I wrote those guides, what then?

Until it occurred to me to just have an engineering-centric blog.

An engineering-centric blog that could help you
engineer your  life
to the best one you could possibly have.

An engineering-centric blog that could cater to engineering students (I've been there. I've been there for 8 years, no shame in that. And look, I'm an engineer now), engineering graduates and board exam takers and maybe, as I get my own technical experience, full-fledged working engineers. (Or maybe I can get contributors soon?)

And as soon as I realized awhile ago the direction I wanted this blog to go, I immediately worked on creating the blog and writing this post before I could even change my mind! (I don't even have an about me page yet! Haha) But right now, it seems like this blog is here to stay. :)

As a start, aside from the board exam tips I've promised, I would love to hear what other topics you'd like to read on this blog! Leave a comment down below!
